2 Months

Hannah had her 2 month check-up a day before she was 9 weeks old.  She finally started smiling when she was around 8- 8 1/2 weeks old.  I was starting to get really worried that she was Autistic or that something was wrong.  In conclusion to this line of thought I have realized that I'm a spaz! 

She is a good baby and is very loved!  When she was around 5-6 weeks and was waking up around 3 times a night I was going crazy feeling like a zombie.  I was talking to some other moms and they gave me the great advice to make sure she was eating every 3 hours during the day even if she was napping.  It felt extremely wrong to wake her up, but after I started doing that she started sleeping longer and longer through the night.  By her check-up she was sleeping 7-8 hours a night which her pediatrician was very impressed with.  She said that is very good for a breast fed baby.

Her brothers still can't get enough of her and I'm pretty sure I tell them at least 30 times a day to give her some space.  Although it is helpful when I'm trying to make dinner to have them hold her because it keeps her happy for a bit.  That girl loves to be held!

She has very dry skin!  We slather her with lotion 2-3 times a day and I swear it makes no difference.

Other notes about her check-up-  We were very relieved that her pediatrician could no longer hear the heart murmur.  However, she was still concerned about the length of her limbs and as she was feeling her head she noticed that her head came to a bit of a point in the back.  It was hard to see because of all of her hair, you really had to push her hair down to notice.  Because of that and her worry about her limb length she decided to have us just go get x-rays of her head.  A couple of hours after the x-rays the pediatrician called us to let us know that the x-ray showed that she had craniosynostosis.  You could say that we were slightly upset!  I cried the rest of the day.  I could hardly even let myself think of her head being cut open because it made me so ill so instead I focused on the fact that they were going to shave off her beautiful, long, red hair and I shed a lot of tears over that.  The next day our pediatrician had us go get a CT scan of her head because the craniofacial surgeon wanted one done before we met with him.  The next morning I got a call from our pediatrician to let us know that the scan showed that everything was fine.  She said that the suture that goes along the back of her head wasn't closed and it normally is so as her head was growing it bulged out a little bit there.  Even though it isn't normal for it to be open it isn't necessarily abnormal so it wasn't anything we needed to worry about.  So after a lot of tears, prayers, and worries everything was okay again and nobody will be shaving that beautiful red hair!

We all love this little girl so much!  I can't believe how lucky I am to have her!

Father's Day

This year for Father's Day we decided to start celebrating Aaron a day early.  Since we weren't going to be home for dinner on Sunday I decided to make him a special dinner on Saturday.  I grilled him steak and made some garlic mashed potatoes.  Steak is the one food I struggle with, but of course one of Aaron's favorites.  I was nervous I was going to mess them up, but I think for the first time in our marriage I made an amazing steak (the key was buying quality meat from Costco!).  I was also nervous about the mashed potatoes because if you know me then you will know that even though I can cook good food I always have to have a recipe to do it.  I threw caution to the wind though and just threw together some things and the potatoes were delicious!  I was so proud of myself!

For breakfast Aaron surprised me and requested something different than caramel rolls or cinnamon rolls.  He wanted a breakfast sandwich- sausage, egg, and cheese on my homemade english muffins.  I also figured since he gets me flowers for different occasions that I should return the favor.

Then he got to open his presents.  He got a driver, a new Utes shirt, some sandals, and a golfing shirt.

After church we went to his parent's.  Then we went to my parent's where me, my mom, and Mandy made all of the men chicken and beef tacos for dinner with some pies for dessert.  Then we went outside and played with the rocket launcher.

All of the kids had fun doing the rocket launcher, but Austin absolutely loved and sat over there playing with it forever.

After playing we stopped at my Grandpa's on our way home.  We are so thankful for all of the good men in our lives.  I'm so glad that my boys have such good examples to learn from!

Aaron the barber

Once a year I get time off from being the hair stylist for my boys and Aaron takes over as the barber.  I look forward to it because I don't really like cutting hair and because I think they look cute in their summer hair cuts.

Aaron had fun doing weird things with their hair.  This is Zack as an old man.  I love the look of pain he has on his face in the first picture.

Coach Pitch

Austin and Zack were signed up for soccer this spring, but they have been asking for almost a year when they could play baseball.  Unfortunately here soccer and baseball are the same time so there is no way they could have done both.  Lucky for them I decided to be a nice mom and we dropped out of soccer even though they wouldn't give us all of our money back.  Of course since I did that all I have heard the last couple of weeks is them asking when they could play soccer because soccer is the best sport ever.  Aaron and I at least had a lot of fun watching them and they did tell me they like baseball; they just don't like being the team in the out field.

We had the choice of putting them in t-ball or coach pitch.  One of our neighbors was coaching a coach pitch team so we decided to skip t-ball and go with that.  We are really glad we did because they have done great!

 The way they run is so funny, but I think a lot of it had to do with the fact that the helmet would fall over their eyes so they couldn't see.

 It was so funny to watch them play- they didn't quite get what they were supposed to do with the ball when they would get it.  When somebody would hit the ball you would see almost the whole team run in a big clump to go get the ball.

 But this is what a lot of the kids would be doing when they were supposed to be watching for the ball. :)

Gavin has the funniest run.  He will punch his arms forward when he's running, it cracks me up.

 One of their number one fans.  It was not always easy to entertain him during the games, but he is awfully cute!

 I had to miss one of their games when I was in the hospital which I hated so me and Hannah ventured out when she was only 6 days old to go support them.  She was a great baby and I kept her covered the whole time so nobody would touch her. Isn't she beautiful!

 

Austin was so concerned about what Hannah was doing during his games.  Whenever he was on base or in the outfield and was close to us he would be constantly asking what she was doing.

They were one of the youngest teams in the division and got out in the first round of the tournament.  Zack got an out on the last game and was SO excited!  They did great and we loved watching them play!

Hannah's Blessing

On June 3rd we blessed Hannah.  Aaron of course did an amazing job.  I'm so grateful for my husband! 

After we went to a park by our house for linner.  I made buns, barbeque pork with homemade barbeque sauce, coleslaw, and the best brownies in the world.  Our family was great and brought some other side dishes and desserts to share.  Unfortunately we didn't take hardly any pictures at the park because we were too busy talking.

Hannah was a party pooper and slept through the whole party.

 

 

 I really wanted to get a nice family picture, but those boys were all too fast changing.

 

It has been a lot more fun to dress a girl vs. a boy so I wanted to get pictures of all of the details of her outfit.  I love this sweet bracelet on her.

 I debated about sewing her dress, but I had no desire to do it.  However her dress came with a bonnet and that just isn't my style so I took her bonnet apart and made it in to these booties and her hair thing.  I was very proud of myself for re-purposing it.  Her feet are only 2 3/4 inches long and all of the preemie shoes are around 3 1/4 inches long (yes, her feet are tiny!).  So I tried adjusting the pattern to make them smaller so they would fit and I adjusted it a little too much and made them about 1/4 inch to small.  I was worried if I messed up a second time I wouldn't have enough material left to make them so I just made them the smallest size and they were about an inch to long.  I still loved how they looked on her though, almost like ballet slippers.

I really wanted a dress that was really long.  Her little legs probably only went to where the bows start if they even went that far.

I love the gathers in the bottom of the dress with the bows.  I wish we would have got a closer picture so you could see it better.

The shoulders of the dress were a bit big on her so you can't see what it's supposed to look like very well.  I loved how there was a strap and then the puff sleeves.
